The Initiative For Equal Rights

Call for Expression of Interest – Communications Expert

DESCRIPTION

The Initiative for Equal Rights (TIERs) is a non-profit organization committed to the promotion and protection of human rights in Nigeria. We are dedicated to achieving full equality and inclusion for marginalized communities, including LGBTQ+ people, women, and people with disabilities.

The Initiative for Equal Rights (TIERs) is calling for communications experts to help develop and lead a three-month communications strategy to combat the criminalization of same-sex activity in Nigeria.

This strategy aims to raise awareness about the human rights violations caused by the criminalization of same-sex activity and to mobilize support for the rights of LGBTIQ+ individuals in Nigeria. We are looking for individuals with experience in the fields of communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or campaign strategy.

The criminalization of same-sex activity in Nigeria has led to a climate of fear and discrimination, and has resulted in human rights abuses against LGBTIQ+ individuals. The law, which was passed in 2014, not only criminalizes same-sex relationships, but also bans any form of expression or assembly supporting LGBTIQ+ rights.

The impact of the law has been devastating, resulting in increased harassment, blackmail, and violence against LGBTIQ+ individuals. It has also made it difficult for organizations to provide critical services and support to the community. This is unacceptable and must be addressed.

We are seeking communications experts to help us design and execute a communications strategy that will:

  • Raise awareness about the human rights violations caused by the criminalization of same-sex activity in Nigeria
  • Mobilize public support for the rights of LGBTIQ+ individuals
  • Encourage people to speak out against discrimination and violence
  • Build alliances with other groups and organizations working for human rights in Nigeria

This is an opportunity to make a real and meaningful difference in the lives of LGBTIQ+ individuals in Nigeria. If you have the skills and experience we are looking for, please get in touch. Together, we can create a more just and equitable society for all.
