TIERs Announces Opening of its Physical and Virtual Libraries
The Initiative for Equal Rights (TIERs) is pleased to announce the official opening of its two physical and digital libraries. TIERs understands that the cultivation of a healthy reading culture among young Nigerians is paramount to their educational and social growth. However, the high costs of buying books often hinders youths from reading as much as they would love to.
The new TIERs library spaces are free to access and open to the public. The spaces create an opportunity for young people to dig into a book, discuss them, socialize, or study.
The physical libraries house over a hundred titles spanning across genres like historical fiction and non-fiction, biographies and autobiographies, fantasy, romance, religious, self-help, science fiction, politics and social sciences, poetry and educational titles.
The e-libraries are equipped with computers and access to free internet for registered users. They house LGBTQ+ journals, movies, documentaries, reports and e-books. Visiting users can make use of these materials for free within the facility.
The libraries are set up at the two TIERs centers in Lagos. The Island center address is 1B, Godson Ilodianya Close, Off Ayo Babatunde Crescent, by Akiogun road, Oniru, Lekki. The mainland center address is 10A, Gbagba Crescent, off Oyemekun Bus Stop, College Road, Ogba. Both libraries are open to the public 9 am – 5 pm on weekdays and the Lekki Library is open 12 pm – 5 pm on weekends.
