We are currently hiring for three positions: Director of Safety and Security, Director of Research and Knowledge Management, and Director of Sexual Health and Well-Being.

JOB TITLE: Director, Safety and Security

LOCATION: Lagos, Nigeria

REPORTING TO: Executive Director

WORK CLOSELY WITH: Director of Human Rights & Advocacy, Director of Sexual Health and Well-Being

DESCRIPTION

In the rapidly changing world of cyber security, there is never a dull moment for an innovative, inspiring and get-it-done leader. As an organization working to protect and promote the human rights of sexual minorities nationally and regionally, we can’t be found wanting in the data and lives we protect. So, we do our best to take extra precautions as we go on with our jobs.  The Director of Safety & Security ensures we do just that. This individual must be able to lead the security department of the organization; help build a culture of security across the staff and community members who are associated with the organization. We cannot stop there; this individual must be prepared to be a thought leader across human rights and advocacy issues and demonstrate an understanding or the willingness to learn, adapt or keep up to date with latest cybersecurity trends to be able to tailor it efficiently to the needs of the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(Additional duties may be assigned)

The Director of Safety and Security will be responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing policies, standards, and procedures to safeguard information systems and data. You will be tasked with developing, communicating and enforcing organization-wide security policies, procedures, standards and best practices, and helping other partners of the organization with integration of sound security components into their systems/structures.

Additionally, you will:

  • Help various units within the organization as well as partner organizations understand and establish acceptable levels of risk, and proactively reduce the potential for incidents that pose security threats.
  • Evaluate and deploy effective technical/security solutions or tools that improves the security of the organization.
  • Create and Distribute monthly, bi-annual, quarterly or annually reports when due.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to new threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and manage effective recovery plans that ensure the responsiveness of critical applications during natural disasters or other interruptions in primary service.
  • Protect data privacy and information integrity in response to organization’s needs and compliance requirements.
  • Be aware of and disseminate the latest information and best practice on security issues.
  • Train security concepts and conduct security awareness programs for staff and groups associated to the organization.
  • Design incident response best practices including the organization’s initial response to a security breach or other incidents.
  • Implementing measures to prevent further damages (physically or digitally)
  • Be responsible for compliance on IT Controls.
  • Interface with staff and partner organizations considering IT or IT security concerns, as needed.

 REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Information Security, Computer Science, Information Management Systems, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of leadership experience in IT Security, cyber security, IT Audit, Risk Assessments, related are required.
  • Technology background that includes experience serving as an IT Security department or unit lead.
  • Operates with a sense of urgency about executing the department’s goals and missions; and can adapt quickly to evolving leadership requirements.
  • Possesses strong situational awareness; demonstrates maturity, seasoning and good judgment; has the adaptability and agility to absorb and digest what is happening within a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment and respond accordingly.
  • Confident; listens, takes advice and seeks out advice; operates with a quiet competence; demonstrates humility, openness, and transparency.
  • Possesses unquestioned ethics and integrity; models company values in every interaction and capable of holding themselves and the organization to a higher standard (understands the organization’s critical role in making the Internet work every day and connecting people to where they want to go); a values-based leader who sets the tone at the top and leads by example.
  • Possesses technical skills such as penetration testing, website audits, wifi audits, etc.
  • Competent in IT risk assessment and management, IT continuity management, IT governance formulation, and organizational change management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to react to high-pressure dynamic changing environments.
  • Ability to train security concepts and conduct security awareness programs for staff and groups associated to the organization.
  • Strong people leadership and management skills.
  • Fosters and builds a collaborative working relationship with other staff members.
  • Motivate and lead both direct reports and cross-functional teams.
  • Professional experience in running the information security office analyzing and applying information security, risk management, and privacy practices.
  • Extensive experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and allocation.
  • Knowledge of SAFETAG Framework.
  • Experience with secure coding standards, ethical hacking techniques, IDS/IPS, SIEM

RELEVANT CERTIFICATIONS

CISSP, CEH, CISM, CISA, or any other cyber security credentials.

COMPENSATION

JOB TITLE: Director, Research and Knowledge Management

LOCATION: Lagos, Nigeria

REPORTING TO: Executive Director

DESCRIPTION

The roles assigned to this position includes conceptualizing and directing research and analysis around sexuality and gender, discriminatory laws and policies, community based research, and impact assessment. The DRKM will design and lead empirical and qualitative research that will feed into policy, advocacy, programming and law review. The position holder will be responsible for producing research reports, white papers, policy briefings and resource materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(Additional duties may be assigned)

  • Developing social and policy research and social perception surveys on LGBT+ rights and issues.
  • Researching, documenting and analyzing the life and lived experiences of LGBT+ persons at the community level and society at large.
  • Overseeing the research and knowledge management activities of the organization with a focus on a broad-based portfolio of research topics.
  • Developing a database that contains detailed information and analysis of LGBT+ people’s reality from a social, economic and clinical perspective.
  • Designing and managing research projects effectively and efficiently, including tracking research projects for successful completion and influencing how research outcomes are used for programming, policy and advocacy.
  • Ensuring that research projects adhere to strict academic rigor and ethical standards.
  • Working with the communications department of TIERs to develop a comprehensive communication strategy and implementation that is research led and communicated to relevant key stakeholders.
  • Supporting fundraising for research projects of the organization by identifying new grant opportunities.
  • Creating a conducive intellectual and research environment aimed at make TEIRs a Centre of excellence on LGBT+ research in Nigeria.
  • Working with LGBT+ partner organizations to ensure issues faced within the community are reflected in research.
  • Engaging with the media and other stakeholders through speaking engagements, writing and publications such as op-eds and commentary,

QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate is required to possess:

  • A degree in the social sciences or relevant discipline. A Masters-level degree would be an added advantage.
  • A Good understanding of Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC)
  • Three – Five years’ prior work experience in similar field. Work experience in non-profit entity is an additional advantage.
  • Excellent writing skills with a proven track record of research and publication.
  • Demonstrated past record of peer-reviewed publication or similar research output.
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Networking skills and managing complex situations are desirable skill.
  • Ability to deliver tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Discretion and ability to handle confidential issues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with others in a diverse team, across organizational boundaries and multiple locations, and with team members at all levels.
  • Confidence and enthusiasm when communicating with both external partners and the internal project teams in formal and informal presentations
  • A passion for social change with interest in the field of gender equality, human rights, SOGIESC, social justice, and civic engagement.
  • Exceptional professionalism, follow-through and people skills.
  • Personal qualities of humility, capacity for self-reflection, and/or a sense of humor is a plus.
  • Availability to travel within and outside Nigeria.

JOB TITLE: Director, Sexual Health and Well-Being

LOCATION: Lagos, Nigeria

REPORTING TO: Executive Director

DESCRIPTION

The position holder will design programs and provide strategic direction towards sexual, social and mental health programs specific to LGBT persons in Nigeria. The person will also be responsible for leading the sexual health and wellbeing program team and giving technical assistance on all programs implemented within the department. The DSHW will be responsible for liaising with donors on emerging issues identified within programming and the best possible approaches to address them while ensuring quality programming and service delivery to the community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(Additional duties may be assigned)

  • Designing, implementing and supporting sexual health and wellbeing programs targeting LGBT+ persons.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of local and national guidance, policy and research relating to sexual health.
  • Identifying and maintaining community resources useful in implementing program activities.
  • Supervising the implementation of program activities and providing technical guidance to staff, other agencies and service providers as necessary to ensure quality program implementation.
  • Researching HIV/AIDS information and preparing bulletins, periodic reports, and educational materials.
  • Performing various technical tasks related to the HIV/AIDS program such as conducting educational presentations, conducting statistical surveys, liaising with relevant state officials, and developing specific health education plans.
  • Identifying and utilizing the linkages between sexual health, human rights and wellbeing.
  • Planning and/or participating in workshops, forums, and discussions to highlight the emerging issues at the community level.
  • Designing, delivering, evaluating and monitoring training to professionals on health issues affecting LGBT+ people.
  • Designing, delivering, evaluating and monitoring a range of health and wellbeing initiatives for LGBT+ people including, education sessions, one to one support, social and peer support and advocacy.
  • Promoting the health and wellbeing services of LGBT+ persons to relevant stakeholders and ensuring wider support services that enables appropriate uptake of services.
  • Ensuring accessibility of safer sex commodities throughout a range of venues.
  • Developing new and innovative sexual health services based on identified needs and emerging issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate is required to possess:

  • A degree in public health, social science, or a relevant discipline. A Masters-level degree would be an advantage.
  • A Good understanding of the LGBT+ community in Nigeria, as well as Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC).
  • Three – Five years’ prior work experience in public health or a similar field. Work experience in a non-profit entity would be an advantage.
