“We Don’t Live Here Anymore” brings an in-depth look at discrimination, violence and life struggle
The Initiative for Equal Rights in conjunction with Sunbow production are pleased to announce to the public the official trailer of our feature film “We Don’t Live Here Anymore”. The film features actors such Funlola Aofiyebi Raimi, Katherine Obiang, Temidayo Akinboro, Francis Sule and other incredible Nollywood actors.
This film takes an in-depth look at discrimination, violence and life’s struggles faced by persons of non-heteronormative sexual orientation. This film presents an alternative narrative that seeks to educate and inform the society from an alternative angle. The film is directed by celebrated storyteller, Tope Oshin, one of the most renowned film directors in Nigeria.
This films tells the story of two teenage boys who become the centre of unwanted attention because of their sexual orientation. It leads the audience through an emotional and nuanced journey of two families upon the knowledge of their children’s sexual orientation. They are forced to confront “taboo” issues and navigate their realities at home, school, and in the society, at large. The movie mirrors a typical Nigerian society and how two different families come to terms with their love and acceptance for their children.
The movie will premiere sometime in June 2018 and further information on release to the public will be available from July 2018.
